Frequently asked questions

Our handhelds drop connection mid-aisle. Why?

Almost always coverage and roaming design. Antennas chosen for an office do not cover the floor of a high-ceilinged aisle, and the handheld may be configured to drop rather than hand over as it moves between access points. Adding hardware without surveying usually makes it worse.

Why does coverage change between a full and an empty warehouse?

Steel racking and loaded pallets both block and reflect signal, so a survey done in an empty building does not reflect reality. We survey at typical occupancy and recommend repeating it whenever the racking layout changes.

Does Wi-Fi work in cold storage?

It does, but it is planned differently: condensation, hardware rated for low temperatures and the risk of dropouts at door thresholds all need separate treatment. Specifying the same equipment as the ambient warehouse is the most common mistake.

If the warehouse server stops, does dispatch stop?

With most current setups, yes — the WMS usually runs on a single machine. So the first thing we look at is making that server resilient and measuring the recovery time. We agree the target together and prove it by testing, not on paper.

Do you provide support on night shifts?

Shift hours are written into the maintenance agreement with a separate response target for nights. With monitoring in place, critical failures usually reach us before the shift team notices them.

Who owns the integration with our customers’ systems?

Business rules and data mapping belong to the software side. We are responsible for the infrastructure it runs on: connectivity, servers, certificates and access security. Determining which side an outage belongs to is also part of that.
